COLLEGE OF COMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SCIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA
During Mary's graduate tenure at The University of Alabama, she served as a Graduate Assistant for The College of Communication and Information Sciences. In this role she managed the college's social media accounts, crafted countless graphics, sent newsletters to 12,000 alumni and 3,200 students, planned major events for the college and developed campaigns for print and digital platforms.
Student Government
The University of Alabama's Student Government Association elections are competitive, exciting and represent the complexities of political communication. Each candidate works to bridge the gap between SGA and its 38,000 constituents.
Mary served as Director of Communications for the first African American and independent candidate to win in 40 years and the first incumbent to run for re-election. She even took the plunge and successfully ran as a Senator for the Graduate School her final year on campus. This involvement taught her about the all-encompassing nature of communication and many lessons she hopes to implement at higher levels of civic engagement.
